Design Compass
License policy
Design Compass materials follow the license stated for each item. Publicly available code and Plus-only materials have different terms.
1. Free code
Code expressly licensed under MIT can be used in personal, company, client, and commercial projects. You may modify, copy, redistribute, and sell it under that license.
When copying or distributing all or a substantial portion of the code, retain the original copyright notice and MIT license. You do not need to display a Compass logo or attribution link in your product interface.
Limits on free previews or service access do not change your rights to MIT-licensed code you have already obtained.
2. Plus-only code
Compass-authored Plus-only code without a separate open-source license may be used and modified in personal work, internal services, client projects, and paid products. There is no limit on permitted projects, and you may sell the finished products.
You may not redistribute or sell the code, unchanged or modified, as a UI kit, component library, template, theme, starter, or code collection.
You may not use it to create a library, API, or MCP service that lets others retrieve the source materials. These restrictions do not apply to code separately released under MIT or another open-source license.
3. Media and detailed guides
Articles, commentary, case studies, and detailed guides provided to members may be used for personal learning and professional reference. You may apply the principles you learn to your own projects.
You may not reproduce or adapt the text, images, translations, or collections of summaries for distribution or sale, or provide them through an organization-wide content repository. Quotations and other uses permitted by applicable law remain allowed.
4. Skill and MCP
Dedicated Skill and MCP integrations are in development and are not currently included with Plus. The following terms apply to Plus-only Skill and MCP materials if separately provided in the future.
Authorized users may use those materials with AI tools to work on their own projects. Outputs created within the permitted scope may be used commercially.
You may not share accounts, access keys, or paid source materials with others, or collect materials in bulk for redistribution. Using Plus-only materials in model-training or fine-tuning datasets requires separate permission.
The original terms of openly licensed and third-party materials take precedence for those materials.
5. Client projects and teams
You may deliver completed projects to clients. Clients may operate and maintain those projects, but need a separate license to extract Plus-only code for reuse in other projects.
An individual membership licenses one person. Each team member who directly accesses or obtains Plus source materials for their work needs their own license. End users of a finished service do not need a membership.
6. When your subscription ends
When your subscription ends, access to Plus services, new materials, and updates ends. Access to paid MCP services also ends if such a service is separately provided.
You may continue using Plus code lawfully obtained during a valid subscription in both existing and new projects. You may retain documents for personal and professional reference, but may not redistribute them.
License termination and the handling of materials following a refund, payment reversal, or serious policy violation are governed by the applicable refund policy, terms of service, and law.
7. Third-party materials and branding
Third-party code, libraries, fonts, photos, videos, and icons follow their respective rights holders' terms. Membership does not include reuse rights for every asset shown in an example.
Rights to the Compass website, operating systems, brand, and logos are not transferred, except where separately granted. Uses that misleadingly imply an official Compass product or affiliation are not permitted.
8. Warranty and contact
Materials are provided as is. You are responsible for their application, verification, and deployment. This policy does not limit rights protected by applicable law.
